4-Week Course
Wednesday evenings 6pm starting 7/15/26
By quieting the mind, we can find new ways to relate with thoughts and emotions as well as whatever is happening around us. Cultivating mindfulness helps us live with more intention, clarity and compassion, for ourselves and the people in our lives.
This course is designed to support anyone new to mindfulness and meditation and those returning to practice. The 4 weeks include:
? Short talks on mindfulness and meditation
? Guided meditations on body, thoughts, emotions
? How to integrate a mindfulness practice into daily life
? Discussion and self-reflections
Class 1: What is Mindfulness and meditation?
Talk:
? What is Mindfulness? Being openly receptive to the present moment; being more responsive, less reactive.
? The practice of meditation.
? Developing a regular practice. Importance of being patient and kind to oneself. Meditation with object options: breath, sounds, bodily sensations
Class 2: Mindfulness of Thoughts
Meditation on thoughts
Talk:
? Exploring ways we experience thoughts.
? How we can begin to shift the way we relate to them.
? Levels of awareness of thoughts:
? naming/noting;

? not identifying with thoughts
? becoming aware of awareness itself
Class 3: Mindfulness of Emotions
Meditation on emotions
Talk:
? “Unexpected visitors” of emotions can arise from many past, current conditions. ? Feeling tones; and stream of experience with emotions.
? Noticing and naming emotions.
? RAIN practice (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture)
Class 4: Bringing mindfulness into your life
Meditation on mind-body and open awareness
Talk:
? Bringing mindfulness into your day.
? Coming back to the Why.
? Keeping a regular practice.
? With time, subtle yet real shifts.
? Less ego, more wonder.
? Final reflections
Facilitator Owen Davis is currently studying with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, both literally wrote the books on how to create mindfulness in our own lives. Take this guidance and begin to build a deeper experience of presence in your day to day life. Reduce stress, invite calm and acute levels of concentration with practice.
