Midcoast Music Fest - The Mallett Brothers Band with Amy & the Engine (featuring Amy Allen), Joe Gallant & the Transit

The Mallett Brothers Band is an alt-country/rock band from Portland, Maine. Drawing from an array of influences including rock and roll, folk, blues, bluegrass, neo-traditional and classic country and even punk, MBB are known for high-intensity live performances. They were nominated for "Best Emerging Artist" of 2011 by Deli Magazine, Boston, and "Best Band/Act in Maine" in the 2011 New England Music Awards. Find out more at www.mallettbrothersband.com.

Opening for The Mallett Brothers Band this year will be Amy and The Engine (featuring Amy Allen) and Joe Gallant the Transit. Amy and the Engine is a Berklee College-based band fronted by Maine's Amy Allen that features the songwriting team of Allen and Tyler Perry (no, not the movie star). Self described as "indie-folk-pop", the band formed in the long winter of 2014 in Boston and, in addition to Allen and Perry, also features Ben Kling (mandolin/keys), Cody Nilsen (lead guitar), Will Goodroad (drums) and Blain Crawford (bass). Their debut single, "I Got You", will be released to radio in mid May and a full length album is slated for fall 2014. Allen, named the Portland Phoenix's "Best Female Vocalist" in 2011 and 2013, met Tyler in a Berklee writing class when they were assigned to write a song together and they haven't stopped writing since! They count among their influences The Beatles, Paul Simon, Dr. Dog, Scissor Sisters and Fleetwood Mac and they will be touring up and down the east coast during the summer of 2014. For the full schedule and more info, go to amyandtheengine.com.

Joe Gallant and The Transit is a four piece alt-country rock act based out of Portland Maine. Gallant has drawn comparisons to Ryan Adams and Tom Petty with a "distinctive gruff-but-melodic" vocal delivery (Bangor Daily News) and a style considered "twangy, smooth and hooky" (Portland Press Herald). Drawing from an influence of country, blues and rock, JG+T keeps their audience dancing and singing along throughout their latest release "The Rise and The Fall."

Don’t miss The Jason Spooner Band on July 17 and Dave Mallett on July 24.

The events support the conservation and education work of the Damariscotta River Association.  The Damariscotta River Association, a non-profit community-supported land trust has been working since 1973 to preserve and promote the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of the Damariscotta River region.
