History & Haunts of High Street - Wiscasset

High Street in Wiscasset may have the best combination of haunts and history in the midcoast area, according to Sally Lobkowicz of Red Cloak Haunted History Tours.  “History is alive on this beautiful street,” said Lobkowicz. “And, often where you find history, you find legendary tales and reports of paranormal activity.”

The guided adventure will include inside tours of the Lincoln County Courthouse and Castle Tucker, a meeting with a journalist who investigates the paranormal, as well as a leisurely stroll down High Street with stops at historic, and possibly haunted, locations.

The tour will benefit Castle Tucker, with a $10 contribution included with every $35 admission fee.

Tales of haunted happenings in the High Street area have been featured in a new book, “Haunted Damariscotta – Ghosts of the Twin Villages and Beyond,” by local investigative journalist Greg Latimer. Chapters in the book cover the Lincoln County Courthouse, the Wiscasset Public Library and the Smith House. Latimer will meet the tour group at the final stop, the Lincoln County Courthouse, to discuss reports of the paranormal on High Street and the process of investigating them.

The size of the group will be limited for both safety and quality of experience, so early reservations are suggested.
