DESCRIPTION:Saturday 6/6\, 10 AM - Burnt Island/Boothbay Harbor - Advisory: this trip involves ocean paddling. Directions: From Damariscotta take Route 27 south 9.6 miles to the Civil War monument in Boothbay. Bear right onto Corey Lane leaving the monument on your left. At the stop sign\, go straight past Back River Road. Next go pass Barters Island Road on your right where you make a slight left and the road turns into Lakeside Drive. Bearing right at the next fork\, stay on Lakeside Drive for 2.2 miles. At the stop sign\, cross over Route 27 and go straight onto McKown Point Road. Pass Harborfields Cottages on your left and in 0.1 miles you will see Landing Road on your right. Turn right down to the boat launch ramp. You may have to park on the main road after dropping off your kayak. The duration of the paddle will be 3 hours to include a picnic lunch (bring your own) on Burnt Island where there is a public rest room. $2.00 entrance fee on the Island.\n\n                                                                        AND\n\nSaturday 6/6\, 10 AM - Damariscotta Lake\, Newcastle - Directions: From Newcastle\, take Route 215 North (Mills Road) 4.0 miles to Route 213 (Bunker Hill Road).Turn right onto 213 going 2.0 miles to the Public Boat Launch on your right. Paddle duration 2 hours\; no rest rooms.\n\n\n\nThe paddles are free and the public is welcome to accompany PWA on these trips. Unless noted\, most paddles commence at 10 AM on Saturday and last approximately 2 to 3 hours. Additional paddles may be scheduled during the season. By popular demand\, we are now offering many ocean paddles and lake/stream paddles on the same days for those who are not quite ready for ocean paddles or would prefer the alternative.  Paddlers must provide their own kayak or canoe\, wear a personal flotation device (life jacket) and provide appropriate safety gear including water. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All paddlers participating in PWA trips are responsible for their own safety and each participant should determine in advance if conditions are suitable for their skill level. All paddlers must have a written release on file with PWA or complete one at the time of the paddle. The releases may be obtained at the PWA Paddlers web site or from the paddle leader. All paddles will be listed at the PWA website: www.pemaquidwatershed.org.
