SUMMARY:Castle Tucker Open House
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the start of summer with a free tour of Castle Tucker on Saturday\, June 6. Tours leave on the half hour from 11 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Last tour leaves at 4:00 pm. \n\n\n\nCastle Tucker is one of Maine's most fascinating landmarks. Step back in time as you walk through a mansion filled with the original furnishings of the Tucker family\, who lived here for over 140 years. The unusual style house was built in 1807 by one of Wiscasset's most prominent citizens\, Congressman and Judge Silas Lee. Lee spent years acquiring the estate that was to be his architectural dream house.\n\n\n\nIn 1858\, Captain Richard Tucker Jr.\, scion of a prominent Wiscasset shipping family\, bought the house for his new and growing family. The Tuckers redecorated to reflect the fashions of their time. Castle Tucker is one of the most complete and original Victorian homes in the United States. The kitchen includes four generations of kitchen technology still in place where it was used and preserved by three generations of Tucker women.
